We are looking to recruit a role within the School of Medical Sciences, to lead and manage an established team in the delivery of technical services aligned to our Undergraduate Medical Programme and new to academic year 2024/25, the Physician’s Associates Programme.  The role is varied and challenging, and comes at a time of significant technological change and advancement for the School  and wider University.  Our technology system, 1Med, is a staff and student VLE to support the delivery of the MB ChB Programme and contains a suite of services to support undergraduate medical students in their studies, both on campus and in their clinical settings; it is utilised by students, administrators and academic and clinical tutors. 1Med manages current, comprehensive, coherent and appropriately shared information about every student throughout their learning experience. It also manages a comprehensive staff profile of all involved in the management, administration and delivery of the MB ChB Programme. In addition, 1Med offers a portfolio to support students’ personal and professional development and personalised timetables.

For the period of this fixed term role, the post holder will provide management and leadership to the 1Med team, to ensure delivery of 1Med requirements to the programmes it supports.  In response to a detailed system architect review, the post holder will manage a schedule of remediation work to effect system improvements for the 1Med suite.   There are significant change projects ongoing across the University in the space of delivery of teaching and learning, with new a new collaborative learning environment, CANVAS, being brought in to replace the current provision (Blackboard) and also a engagement analytics system to monitor student engagement and attendance. It will be critical for the post holder to keep abreast of these developments, working with key project stakeholders to feed in requirements from the school.

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional looking to develop cross organisation working, be involved with key technology development and integration, and deliver a high level of day to day service to the Medical and Health programmes in the School. The successful candidate will be highly technically literate with the ability to also work with a range of non-technical stakeholders. The ability to engage with and influence stakeholders outside of their immediate team  (e.g. ITS, IGO) is essential for this role.

  • Fantastic market leading Pension scheme

  • Exceptional starting annual leave entitlement, plus bank holidays
  • Additional paid closure over the Christmas period
  • Local and national discounts at a range of major retailers
