About the Role
The Containment Level 3 (CL3) Facility Manager will be responsible for assuring the continuous, efficient and safe operation of the Institute’s three CL3 suites. The successful candidate will be part of the Institute Laboratory Management team and will work closely with the Biological Safety Adviser within Queen Mary University of London, Health & Safety Directorate.

About the Faculty/Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 370 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c700 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

About You
The candidate must have a degree or equivalent in Biochemistry/Immunobiology/Biomedical or Life Sciences or a related subject, or have equivalent working experience. Experience of managing CL2 and CL3 laboratories. and dealing with Genetically Modified Micro-Organisms is required. The candidate needs to have an up-to-date understanding of Health and Safety legislation.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time (35 hours per week) permanent appointment, with an expected start date of July 2024. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £42,405-£49,785 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
