The Opportunity:

To contribute to the development of a programme of high-quality research investigating the function and dysfunction of dynamin-1 in models of epilepsy. Research will be primarily focused on investigating synaptic vesicle recycling in primary neuronal cultures in addition to standard molecular biology and biochemistry.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), This is a 100% on-campus role. 

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Determine the molecular and cellular effect of human mutations in the DNM1 gene (involves primary neuronal culture, live fluorescence imaging of primary neurons, standard molecular biology techniques and protein/lipid interaction assays) 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to document research progress 
  • Continually update knowledge and understanding in the field of presynaptic dysfunction in neurodevelopmental disorders and epilepsy 
  • Provide guidance and supervision for student projects and/or instruction of students in the use of equipment/demonstration of techniques.
