We are seeking a skilled and passionate Assistant Chef Manager to support leading our kitchen team and take the culinary offerings to the next level.

Our aim is to deliver a food service standard which reflects and supports the University’s core values of excellence, quality, creativity, and diversity across the full range of catering facilities our in-house team provides.
We aim to provide a broad range of high quality, value for money food and hospitality facilities across the university for students, staff, and visitors. Our 12 catering outlets are spread across the campus and range from Street food huts on our squares to High Street style eateries and coffee shops.
Our focus is on using local fresh produce, providing value for money, and supporting an ethical approach to sustainability and traceability. We are committed to ensuring that our services meet the needs of our diverse and multicultural community on campus.
Duties of the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and passionate Chef to be part of our brigade within one of our fantastic Eateries at our Colchester Campus.
You will be assisting the Chef Manager in leading a team of Chefs, ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the kitchen. The successful candidate will ensure the department delivers customer satisfaction through exceptional food quality, utilising local fresh produce, recognising the importance of plant-based foods and using them to produce menus of change.
Applicants should be passionate and motivated, leading by example and able to motivate and develop both the catering offer and the team.

Skills and qualifications required
You will need excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude. Passion for the catering industry, follow food trends and able to influence those around you to do the same. NVQ level 3 professional chef qualification or industry experience is essential.
