About us:

Sitting at the heart of the King’s/SLaM Denmark Hill campus, the Pears Maudsley Centre is a £90M state-of-the-art hub for mental health research focused on children, adolescents, young adults and their families. The PMC is an enterprise bringing together scientists and clinicians from a range of professional backgrounds to address the mental health of children and young people. The Partnership will deliver rapid, relevant findings on the causes of mental health problems; determining which children are most at risk of developing mental ill health and developing effective strategies on how to prevent mental health problems, and how to stop them from getting worse once they appear. It will build the evidence-base for developing personalised multi-modal treatments with avenues for scalability. The PMC is the only facility in Europe whose primary focus is on mental disorders and neurodevelopmental conditions affecting CYP.

About the role:

The post is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinical academic with established research and clinical expertise to shape the King’s Maudsley Partnership (KMP) research strategy for the mental health of children.

The post is closely linked to the new Pears Maudsley Centre (PMC) for Children and Young People (CYP) which plans to transform the mental health of children and young people. The choice of clinical service will be negotiated to ensure it meets a service need and the clinical and research interests/expertise of the post holder but needs to be in the field of child mental or neurodevelopmental disorders.

The post holder needs to be a clinical academic with an internationally recognised research programme, as Principal Investigator, in a relevant aspect of children’s mental/neurodevelopmental disorders.

It is expected that the post holder will take a leadership role amongst psychologists and other disciplines, and carry out relevant clinical sessions and supervision.

Depending on experience, this post will be offered as either a Reader or a Chair in Child Clinical Psychology.

This is a full time post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

Closing date: 13th June 2024
