About the Role
Applications are invited for the post of School Manager in the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences.
This post is a part of the School leadership team providing strategic and operational direction for the School. The role holder will have a particular focus on ensuring the administrative infrastructure and services within the school are effective and respond appropriately to strategic and operational challenges to continue the high level of support for activities within the School and take a leading role in supporting and enabling the School and the Faculty to meet their strategic aims.
The postholder will oversee the management of a professional services and technical team of 25 staff and has seven direct reports.
This role is hybrid, but it is expected that the postholder will be working on site for three days a week.
About You
Candidates should have demonstrable management experience, ideally in a Higher Education environment, with experience of managing a diverse team of professional staff, and of financial planning and budgeting, resource management, operational and strategic planning.
About the School
The School of Physical and Chemical Sciences consists of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry. It is one of five schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The School is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to over 530 undergraduate students, 70 postgraduate taught students, and 130 teaching and research staff. Our research is highly collaborative, working with colleagues across all three faculties and supported by partnerships with industry, NHS and other stakeholders.
