Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.
We are seeking a statistical modeller with an interest in climate-sensitive disease forecasting to join the D-MOSS project. This ongoing project works with ministries of health in Vietnam and Malaysia to forecast dengue outbreaks 2 weeks to 6 months in advance using climate, sociodemographic and hydrological variables. The system is currently operational and the postholder will primarily focus on generating higher resolution forecasts, improving how forecasts inform decision making for different stakeholders and contribute to robust evaluation of forecasts.
The post-holder must have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic along with relevant experience developing, fitting and evaluating predictive time series models. The post-holder should be aware of the limitations of real-time surveillance data and some common modelling techniques to overcome these. A strong working knowledge of R and experience developing re-usable code, developed collaboratively using platforms such as GitHub is essential. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
