This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious and talented research engineers to join the Driving the Electrical Revolution Industrialisation Centre as part of the Power Electronics, Machines and Drives Research Group (PEMC) at the University of Nottingham. You will be a core member of a team working on electrical machines, electromagnetic design, magnetic and insulation materials, thermal management, control, construction and testing of high-performance electrical machines.
The PEMC Research Group has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 200 members, with over 24 academics (including 9 full professors), and approximately 130 PhD students, post-doctoral research fellows and applications engineers. The group has world-class facilities for experimental work including circa 3500m2 research space with construction and testing capabilities up to 5MW.
The purpose of the role is to contribute to projects with key industrial partners in the field of electrical machines. Knowledge in topics related to testing electrical machines, drives and materials are required. This is an innovative and growing area of research, and we are open to applicants who may have alternative transferable skills to contribute to this area. Here are some examples of the type of expertise we are looking for, however this list is not exhaustive and exclusive:
Candidates should have bachelor’s in electrical / Electronic / Mechatronics / Instrumentation (or relevant) Engineering.
The post will be offered on a full-time (36.25 hours per week) contract for 24 months. Job share arrangements may be considered.
