The post will be situated in the Institute’s Hasanat Centre for Islamic Studies. The successful candidate will be required to develop and implement robust and comprehensive marketing and communications plans that maximise the recruitment of students in our Arabic and Islamic Studies programme. Oue flagship Arabic and Islamic studies programme is completely free of charge and offered both on site and through distance learning. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for creating and delivering communications and marketing plans for projects across the organisation. They will write marketing copy, identify contents, and schedule social media messages, and create content for the Centre’s website, including new approaches to digital publishing. Additionally, the postholder will liaise and work with Islamic schools, mosques, and scholars for recruitment of prospective students for the centre. 

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Write accurate, engaging, and targeted copy for a range of audiences across a range of channels.
  • Create organic social media content, including creating social media banners and videos.
  • Support the design and production of marketing and communications materials (e.g. leaflets and reports) ensuring consistent house style, branding, and layout.
  • Develop the College’s online presence by exploring new opportunities and channels to appeal to different audiences.
  • Track the centre’s reach and engagement using insight and analytics tools, reporting regularly to senior management.
  • Represent the Centre at external events to promote College educational programmes, which may involve national travel and occasional weekend working.
  • Contribute to internal and external meetings on knowledge of communications and centre’s activities, providing accurate and timely minutes when needed.
  • Be a proactive and hands-on member to recruit learners for centre’s on-site and distance learning courses.

Person specification:

  • Experience to work with Muslim faith based organisations and Ability to liaise at all levels with various organisations and stakeholders
  • Experience of student recruitment for onsite and distance learning courses
  • Test and learn mindset to deliver the best performing marketing activities.
  • Data driven to optimise performance across channels.
  • Experience in Meta, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest and TikTok.
  • Stays up to date with social media trends including new social channels.
  • Willingness to learn and get stuck in with fundraising efforts which may fall outside of this role’s usual remit, such as TV appeals.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong copywriting skills including the ability to story-tell.
  • Creative thinker to do things differently.
  • Strong communicator and able to work collaboratively.
  • Ideally degree level education.

The successful candidate will be extremely organised, flexible and can be able to work independently with minimal supervision.  The ideal candidate will also have an eye for attention to detail along with being able to multitask and work to deadlines.
