Guaranteed Hours Contract

Four open-ended roles, with additional one-year fixed-term positions available. 

Applications are invited for a Guaranteed Hours (GH), open ended contract as a Tutor in History of Art on the following courses:

UG 

  • HIAR08025 History of Art 1A: Art and Belief in Europe, 500 to 1700 (semester 1): 120 hours
  • HIAR08026 History of Art 1B: Art at the Crossroads of World Cultures 600 to 1700 (semester 2): 120 hours 
  • HIAR08027 History of Art 2A: Reason, Romance, Revolution: Art from 1700 to 1900 (semester 1): 120 hours
  • HIAR08028 History of Art 2B: From Modernism and the Avant-Gardes to Postmodernism and Globalisation (semester 1): 120 hours
  • HIAR10159 Analysing Art History: Texts, Objects, Institutions, Part 1 (semester 1): 60 hours

PGT 

  • HIAR11037 Research, Theory and Methods (semester 1): 120 hours
  • HIAR11038 The Cultures and Politics of Display (semester 1) 120 hours

The Opportunity: 

We are seeking to appoint a Tutor with experience in History of Art, to join a team of teaching staff contributing to learning and teaching at undergraduate and/or taught postgraduate level. The successful candidate will assist with teaching, assessment and feedback across a variety of courses from the start of the 2024 academic year. The courses have specified learning outcomes and sit within the undergraduate MA (Hons) History of Art (and joint degrees), MA(Hons) Fine Art, MSc History of Art, Theory and Display and MSc Modern and Contemporary Art: History, Curating and Criticism programmes.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • A postgraduate degree in History of Art (or related area) 
  • Experience of teaching at university level
  • Ability to work within a team with a collegial attitude, respect and sensitivity toward students and other staff members.
  • An enthusiastic, positive and creative approach to teaching
