The Widening Participation Team within SRA is looking for an Art and Design Tutor to deliver the Saturday Portfolio Preparation Group from August 2024 to January 2025. In addition to this, work on one-off events and workshops will be available as part of the ACES (Access to Creative Education in Scotland) project.

The Opportunity:

Join our small team of creative practitioners and support us in achieving big results for under-represented and disadvantaged young people interested in studying art, design, or architecture at university. The events delivered by ACES range from a six-month Portfolio Preparation Programme to one-off events and online talks.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic art or design educator to deliver a portfolio preparation programme as well as stand-alone workshops to ACES participants aged 14-18.

The Portfolio Preparation Programme will be delivered blended (a mix of online and in person activity) and details on timings are listed in the Job Description.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Enthusiastic and creative educator within art, design, and architecture disciplines
  • Ability to engage secondary school pupils in a friendly, student-focused manner
  • An understanding of, and empathy for, the student groups targeted within Widening Participation programmes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Adaptability across online and in-person environments

The successful candidate will need to work most Saturdays, 10:00-15:00 between 31st August 2024 and 1st February 2025. A detailed Portfolio Prep schedule can be requested.
