An exciting opportunity to join our Scholarships and Bursaries team where you will play a key role in the organisation and delivery of the University of Bath’s Gold Scholarship Programme (GSP) and Arts Scholarships. These Scholarships provide financial support and a comprehensive enrichment programme of activities to University of Bath students from less advantaged backgrounds and to those with exceptional artistic talent.

The Gold Scholarship Programme aims to ensure that its Scholars are equipped with the funding, transferrable skills, knowledge, experience and social capital needed to maximise their Bath experience and to successfully transition to the next stage of their career/studies.

The Arts Scholarships provide financial support, mentorship and artistic skills development to the Arts Scholars.

About the role

As one of the main points of contact for the Gold and Arts Scholars your role will include:

  • regular communication with scholars to ensure continued engagement with their scholarships and supporting them to meet their performance training and volunteering targets;
  • supporting the planning and coordination as well as the development and delivery of some of the key GSP and Arts Scholarship events during the year;
  • working closely with a wide range of stakeholders including other teams in Student Services, Recruitment and Admissions, Widening Participation, Careers, Skills, and the Students’ Union staff and officers;
  • coordinating the production of regular newsletters for Gold Scholars, Arts Scholars, University staff and Gold Mentors.

This would be a great opportunity for someone who enjoys organising events, communicating with a wide variety of people and relishes making a difference.

You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and sympathetically. Our ideal applicant will:

  • be able to problem solve and be proactive, but also be aware of their remit, signpost to other services and seek support when needed;
  • have experience in developing and delivering training workshops;
  • have excellent presentational skills and strong written communication skills;
  • prioritise their workload supported by excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.

The Programme also makes use of a variety of IT systems and tools, including Microsoft Sharepoint, Teams, Zoom, PowerApps and more – and therefore experience in using relevant systems and in improving systems or business processes, or a keenness to learn, will be an advantage.
