About the Role
The Student Enquiry Centre is the central hub for student enquiries and is the front-of-house service for Registry Services. The Centre handles queries from current undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, in person, by telephone, email and via the helpdesk system known as SEC Online. The Centre also deals with requests from third parties requesting verification of student awards. The Student Enquiry Centre Assistant will assist the team in providing front line support to all taught students (undergraduate and postgraduate) offering advice, guidance and instructions from pre-enrolment through to post award. This is a face-to-face role and is required to be in the office presently 4 days per week with one day working from home. During peak periods such as Enrolment, Exams and Graduation, the postholder is required to be present in the office 5 days a week.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong customer focus and be confident in dealing with general and specific enquiries. You should be approachable, sensitive to individual student circumstances and able to deal with their enquiry from initial raising through to satisfactory completion / resolution. An understanding of higher education processes would be advantageous.
About the Department
Registry Services is responsible for the maintenance of a student’s personal and academic record from the point of enrolment through to award, for the development and delivery of the academic and exams timetables, the distribution of the Queen Mary bursary and other approved scholarships, ensuring compliance with immigration rules and dealing with academic and regulatory queries from both students and academic colleagues.
