Newnham College is recruiting a Head of Tutorial & Academic Office to provide effective office management and to ensure that the department runs smoothly and efficiently. This is a full-time, permanent post which will also provide administrative support to the Senior Tutor in all aspects of the academic and welfare provision of the College. The successful candidate will oversee the work of the office staff and liaise with different internal department and members of the College including Directors of Studies, Tutors, the Health & Wellbeing team and external agencies. They will need to ensure the implementation of policy decisions taken at College level, engage with appropriate policy decisions within the University and efficiently manage the operational side of a student’s journey at Newnham College.
The post will involve working full-time hours of 37.5 a week, Monday to Friday, but flexibility is a requirement. The salary is paid at point 45 on the University’s single salary spine, currently £40,521 per annum with additional working being compensated via TOIL (time off in lieu). The College offers membership of the USS pension scheme, to which the College makes employer contributions of 14.5% currently. Holiday entitlement is 33 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays), and other benefits include a free meal when on duty, free car parking where available and free use of the College’s gym facilities.
This post would suit an experienced administrator with solid interpersonal skills, able to work on their own initiative and with a positive “can-do” attitude to oversee the work of a busy, multi-functional office. Ability to build strong working relationships with others, a systems-orientated approach, and excellent overall vision are all important for success in this post.
