We have an exciting opportunity for a Lecturer in Construction and Stagecraft to join our School of Creative Technologies, Design and Enterprise.  You will teach Construction and Stagecraft skills on modules for both our Theatre and Production Technology course and our Theatre and Performance Design courses at all levels (4 – 6). More specifically, this involves teaching the theory and practice of contemporary scenic construction in a theatre and performance context.

You will also be expected to contribute to the development of this pathway on our Theatre and Production Technology programme, support students academically and pastorally, and carry out administrative duties appropriate to the role. This includes project supervision, assessment, module leadership and support for students at all levels.

The ideal candidate must have substantial professional experience in Set Construction/Stagecraft and be educated to at least a degree level or equivalent professional qualification with teaching experience in higher education or similar training provision. Ideally you will also have experience in rigging, flying and mechanical stage technologies.

You will also have excellent working knowledge of current health and safety practices, use of CAD software, demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and communications skills as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.  You will be student focused, building a supportive and creative environment for students to develop their practical skills with a strong commitment to preparing students for sustained employment. 

The post will commence from 1st September 2024.
