Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our offices between Christmas & New Year

Main duties and responsibilities
The postholder will support the Head and Deputy Head of Governance Services in leading the Governance Services Team to support on all matters concerning the management, governance, and effective operation of services for the University’s Central Boards and Committees, including services to the Boards of Directors of the subsidiary companies within the University of Hertfordshire Group.

The successful candidate will offer an advisory service regarding the Department’s governance, regulations, policies, and procedures, both internally and externally, to include academic and professional staff and members of the Board of Governors.

You will ensure the maintenance of all related governance documentation and records, and promote good practice in all aspects of committee work across the institution.

In this role you must maintain a clear understanding of the whole spectrum of the work of the University and its wholly owned subsidiary companies, including funding, learning and teaching, research, staffing, and administration.

Skills and experience required
Building and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues and contacts both within and outside the University is key, so you will need to demonstrate proven prior experience in this area. You will have experience in managing a range of demands, possess good IT skills, particularly in the use of Excel, and have effective written, numeracy and oral communication skills. You will be results-driven and able to work effectively and flexibly on your own initiative and under pressure with a positive can-do attitude.

Substantial proven administrative experience is essential, preferably within a Higher Education Institution. Previous experience clerking committees is beneficial for this role.

Qualifications required
Educated with a minimum of undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification or substantial relevant proven experience
