Applications are invited for the above Royal Society funded post within the Buildings, Energy and Environment (BEE) Research Group ‘A Novel Phase Change Material (PCM) Cooling System for buildings (PCM-Cool)’. The project aims to develop a sustainable cooling systems in developing countries such as Malaysia. The project will investigate a novel cooling storage system for building applications.
The candidate should have the necessary research experience in thermal modelling and experimental design and testing of phase change materials and energy storage systems. Also experience in energy storage system integration in buildings. The candidate needs to provide leadership and be able to drive the project forward.
The BEE Research Group has an international reputation for excellence across a wide range of topics including low carbon buildings, building retrofit, HVAC systems, energy storage, and renewable energy. The Group has extensive research facilities including the Creative Energy Homes and state-of-the-art facilities for sustainable technologies.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or about to obtain) in an appropriate field (for example, building services engineering, mechanical engineering, civil Engineering, chemical engineering or physics). They should also have sound expertise in thermal modelling and experimentation in energy storage systems.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 6 months until 30th November 2024. The hours of work are part-time (30 hours per week).
