Are you passionate about enabling discovery in library systems and repositories? Are you looking for a role that requires accuracy and attention to detail, supporting our diverse academic community?
We are looking for an enthusiastic new colleague to join our Discovery and Access group at King’s Meadow Campus. It is part of the Content & Discovery Section of University of Nottingham Libraries. The university is one of the largest in the UK with international campuses in China and Malaysia. We know that having colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds is key to a good, vibrant workplace and even better services. We are particularly keen to receive applications from those who are currently underrepresented in Libraries in the UK, such as racially minoritised people.
As one of five Senior Library Advisers, you will take day-to-day responsibility for cataloguing and classifying new print and electronic resources across our library network. You will support researchers using the self and mediated deposit service to deposit their journal articles, conference proceedings, books and book chapters in the university repository, advising them on publisher, copyright and Open Access requirements. You will undertake procedures for the electronic management and publication of PhD theses.
The group’s work is organised on a rota basis, and at times, you will need to work independently, prioritising and managing your workload, whilst working with colleagues across other areas of University of Nottingham Libraries.
Applicants will be tested to see if they have the potential to quickly learn cataloguing and classification and the ability to find information about scholarly publications on websites. Training will be provided.
We are committed to providing competitive employment packages that support your well-being and help you reach your full potential. You will have access to a benefits package, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and pension scheme.
This is a fixed-term position with a predicted start date 01/09/2024 and end date 31/07/2025. Hours of work are full time, 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4 pm, or 9:00 am to 5pm.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
