About the Department 

The Access, Participation and Student Success (APSS) department is based in the Student and Academic Services Directorate alongside Academic Services, Registry, Careers, Student Advice and Wellbeing, and Student Experience, Engagement and Retention. 

APSS is responsible for delivering, monitoring and reviewing initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for students from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education, and takes the lead in activities delivered under the School’s Access and Participation Plans. The team works across the student life-cycle, partnering with a range of external partners, including schools, and internally with academic departments and professional services, to create and deliver a varied programme of activities. 

About the role 

The APSS Officer is a key role in the Access, Participation and Student Success team, in this case focussing particularly on the Access stage of the student lifecycle.  The purpose of the role is to organise and deliver a range of high quality activities designed to encourage the progression and success of students from a variety of backgrounds into university.  You will report to the APSS Manager (Access) and work closely with two other APSS Officers focussed on Access, as part of the broader Access, Participation and Student Success team.
