Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 5th June 2024
Closes: 18th June 2024
Job Ref: SOC205624

This role is part of the Rights Lab, a large research unit based in the Faculty of Social Sciences that is delivering world-leading research to help end modern slavery. Each year the Lab develops and delivers many externally funded research projects, based in multiple countries and bringing together researchers from across multiple Schools and disciplines, and partners from government, charities and businesses. You will be part of a dynamic, growing and integrated Rights Lab operations team that collaborates to support the delivery of the Lab’s work across a range of research projects, with responsibility for the coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of operational processes and activities.

The role is exciting and varied, providing team-based administrative support for a range of research-based activities and processes. You will work flexibly and as part of a team to deliver excellent and seamless support for world-leading, high-impact projects and for the Lab’s overall operations, governance and activity. You will need to work with a high level of autonomy and initiative, work calmly and flexibly under pressure, often to tight deadlines, whilst paying attention to detail and with a “can do” attitude. You will support the Senior Research Operations Manager and Senior Research Funding Manager to ensure that projects run smoothly and that the delivery is coordinated, working alongside our other Senior Operations Officers, academic staff, and in liaison with Professional Service departments.

You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust reporting systems for projects, managing project budgets, and monitoring and reporting on budget spend. Where necessary, you will coordinate project meetings, partner workshops, events, and travel. Building on this contribution, you will have the opportunity to shape areas of work based in your areas of interest.

Our team members are supported to develop their skills, and you will have access to mentorship and training opportunities.

Due to the nature of the Rights Lab’s team-based work environment, our team is based together on campus and expectation is that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their work-time in the office in our dedicated University Park space.

This full-time position (36.25 hours) is offered on a fixed-term contract until 31st July 2025 with the possibility of extension subject to funding.
Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from your current line manager (and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role).

Informal enquiries can be directed to Jacqui.Clay@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
