Associate Director - Energy Technologies

About this role

We are seeking to appoint a permanent post as Associate Director – Energy Technologies, to provide strategic development and operational management of programmes across the Energy Technologies subject area with collective responsibility for delivering the School’s performance outcomes and ultimately advancing the College and University’s strategic endeavours.

We have thriving programmes and research within Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering that are closely aligned with industry with a diverse mix of UK and international students. This role presents a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of these programmes, alongside the management and academic quality assurance, to deliver effective teaching, learning and assessment practices for School.

The Associate Director – Energy Technologies is key to the Executive Management team of the School of Engineering, and would have Line Management responsibility for relevant academics in the subject area including Associate Professors, Senior Lecturers and Lecturers. The Associate Directors are active in cross-College activities, and champions for an inclusive, sustainable and healthy workplace culture. All staff help develop and contribute to teaching, research, and knowledge exchange within the School of Engineering.   

About you

You will be responsible for contributing to, and delivering on, the strategic objectives of the University, College and School, through operational plans that deliver on our Key Performance Indicators.

Using your expertise in leadership and management, you will have line management responsibilities and provide inspirational leadership to motivate and empower people in your subject area.

You will also work with colleagues across the School, College and University on cross-cutting initiatives in your area of responsibility.

This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.

This is a permanent post on a 1.0 FTE contract.  This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time.
