The role

We’re looking for building & compliance surveyors who have a broad range of experience with an interest in the historic environment, and can thrive in a dynamic fast paced environment where your expertise can drive measurable change. The positions available will focus on either Fire and Compliance or Asset and Project Delivery.

We are seeking experienced construction professionals, who have a passion for the built environment, with particular skill in fire safety and compliance, and building pathology to provide the full range of building surveying, project management, and contract administration duties.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be working across one of Bristol’s most iconic estates, delivering services which support our ambition to become a world class campus.

You will be liaising with stakeholders to establish end user requirements, undertaking site investigations, desktop studies, and where required engage the services of specialist consultants to support project implementation & delivery.

You will directly support the co-ordination and collation of asset data relating to building condition, fire safety and compliance. You will develop and manage projects which support and underpin the delivery of our Maintenance Strategy and the University’s wider objectives.

Oversee all aspects of building improvement projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and deliver high-quality active & passive fire protection and compliance solutions.

Ensure contractors & consultants adhere to, and are compliant with University of Bristol regulations relating to their activities and conduct on site.

Working with stakeholder to deliver a range of innovative projects which support the delivery of our Net Zero targets.

You’ll need to be flexible as no two days are the same, and have the ability to prioritise your time & duties with a great degree of independence.

You should apply if

You have a Degree, HND, or HNC in Building Surveying or a related construction field.

You have experience in carrying out Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) & compartmentation surveys across a varied asset property portfolio.

Have experience in building pathology, and in particular, building defects and associated remedial action.

You have a good working knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory compliance, approved codes of practice, and industry guidelines and best practice.

You have demonstrable experience within a data driven environment, including use of Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software, the Microsoft Suite, and other relevant Project Management Solutions.

You have experience of undertaking asset building condition surveys, creating detailed reports, often working with large and complex data sets.

You have good communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to engage with a wide stakeholders across a wide range of backgrounds and technical ability.
