Applications are invited for a Temporary Assistant Professor in the history of the United States after 1800, within the American History subject group. The appointee will have undergraduate and postgraduate teaching responsibilities in nineteenth- and/or twentieth-century U.S. history, and will be required to mark assessments in line with the usual expectations for a University Teaching Officer.

The postholder may offer an Option course for the MPhil in American History and may be asked to supervise up to 4 MPhil students. They will fulfil an important role in carrying out registration of first-year PhD students and PhD examining; they will also be expected to participate in our doctoral training programme.

The postholder will serve on the American History MPhil subcommittee.  They may also be expected to take on one of the smaller administrative roles in the Faculty.

We are looking for someone with a developing record of research publication who can demonstrate a firm commitment to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will join one of the largest communities of faculty, postdoctoral researchers and postgraduates working on U.S. history anywhere outside the United States.
