Academic Services is part of the Directorate of Student and Academic Services and is responsible for a range of activities relating to student progression, administration, and quality assurance of the student experience. The team manages a range of student-related processes, including, registration, UKVI compliance as it relates to progression and attendance, timetabling of teaching, assessment, academic progression, and awards. Academic Services also supports School Academic Committees and Programme Committees, student discipline (academic and non-academic), academic appeals and student complaints for the University. Quality assurance processes include external examiners, programme information, programme modification and approval and subject review.
The University now seeks to appoint a Quality Assurance Officer (13 Months Fixed Term - Commencing in September 2024)
The Quality Assurance Officer will be located with the Academic Services team and will work with Academic Schools and other University Directorates to provide high- level administrative support to executive officers and senior managers on quality assurance matters. The Quality Assurance Officer will have responsibility for ensuring that quality assurance processes are compliant with University requirements as well as statutory regulatory frameworks. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Officer will provide secretariat support for University panels, committees and task groups related to QA and compliance. The Quality Assurance Officer is also responsible for supporting the student complaints and disciplinary processes, including interviewing students and staff. The post holder will support other staff with Academic Services to enable both knowledge and relationships to be developed; will be expected to work closely with other Officers to ensure consistency; and to support the work of Academic Services across all administrative areas as required.
