Research Associate / Senior Research Associate in Evidence Synthesis and Test Evaluation

Salary:

Grade I: £37,099 - £41,732;

Grade J: £41,732 - £42,978 per annum pro rata

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented systematic reviewer or quantitative researcher with an interest in evidence synthesis and diagnostic research to work on an NIHR Health Technology Assessment looking at diagnosis of coeliac disease.

You will contribute to an individual participant data (IPD) review and meta-analysis to estimate the accuracy of serological (blood) tests for coeliac disease. You will help with the protocol development, ethics application, collecting IPD by contacting study authors, setting up data sharing agreements, data cleaning, and data analysis.

What will you be doing?

• Identify eligible studies through systematic searches of the literature, contacting authors of eligible studies, liaise with study authors that agree to share IPD
• Cleaning incoming IPD, managing and analysing the IPD dataset
• Contribute to writing reports for NIHR within agreed timelines and contribute to peer reviewed publications and conference presentations
• Work collaboratively and effectively with other members of the project team
• Undertake relevant training to ensure that they are aware of the latest methodological developments relevant to the role

You should apply if

• You have experience of quantitative research and an understanding of systematic reviews and meta-analysis
• You have excellent critical appraisal skills
• You have knowledge of basic concepts in medical statistics
• You have the ability to organise your own time and work, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• You have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and methodical approach
• You have experience of writing up research findings in a concise and accessible format

Additional information

Contract type: Open-ended with funding until 31/08/2026

Work pattern: Part-time/ 60% time / 0.6FTE

Shift pattern: 21 hours per week
