An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Research Assistant in Immunology and Genetics, working under the direct supervision of Prof. Benjamin Fairfax, who has extensive experience in functional genomics and human immunology in healthy volunteers and cancer patients.
The Fairfax group’s research programme is dedicated to understanding predictors of response to cancer immunotherapy.
The successful candidate will play a key role in this research, co-ordinating sample collection, immunological and genetic assessment, resource allocation, experimentation and assisting in the development of new data and approaches. Additionally, you will work with collaborating NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (OxBRC) researchers in the fields of both autoimmunity and cancer treatment.
The post is based at the MRC Weatherall Institute for Molecular Medicine, Headington, Oxford, OX3 9DS. It is offered on a full-time basis for 2 years in the first instance.
About you
You will require an undergraduate degree in genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology or a related field. You will also require relevant experience in tissue culture and standard molecular biology techniques. Expertise with immunological assays, preferably flow cytometry and experience of next generation sequencing and functional genomic protocols will be advantageous.
