The Development Manager leads a section which has responsibility for developing new and innovative data applications and services, particularly our new Data Services platform. The section also provides day-to-day maintenance for software applications and websites for the UK Data Archive to ensure continuity of services.
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the improvement and consolidation of secure CI/CD pipelines on the cloud as well as continuity of service. The role leads on ensuring compliance with secure development procedures and documentation requirements for all systems.
This is largely a hands-off role and user interfacing role, which is responsible for overseeing the quality and security of the application development and delivery lifecycle at the UK Data Archive, rather than doing actual development work. You will foster a culture of innovation, excellence and efficient project delivery. You will have some prior line management experience, and be used to deploying, maintaining and monitoring a variety of applications and services in a production environment, from user interfaces to APIs to databases.
This is a great opportunity to steer the development of innovative, cloud-based applications and data services and being a key participant in an international ecosystem of data and software professionals.
The post is fixed-term until 31/03/2030 due to the cyclical nature of the funding. There is the possibility of an extension. Whilst this is a full-time post, applications will be considered from anyone looking to work anything above 30 hours per week. A job share will also be considered. Please indicate on your application the number of hours you are able to work.
