About the Role
For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Robert Harrison (Head of Automation Systems Group) at Robert.Harrison@warwick.ac.uk.
We are working on innovative automation solutions advancing the state of the art in smart manufacturing, and this role will be critical to that success.
The role is to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the WMG Automation Systems Group (ASG) in its research and applications engineering activities, formulating new partnerships with industry and academia whilst maintaining and growing existing ones. This research includes a broad range of collaborative projects funded through UKRI and the HVM Catapult, as well as Direct Contract Research at WMG. The Chief Engineer will report to the head of ASG and will be responsible for the line management of principal and lead engineers in ASG, ensuring deliverables are met and technical issues resolved rapidly. The role requires outstanding applied technical capability combined with deep strategic awareness.
The Chief Engineer will assist the Head of ASG, its other senior academics, and the WMG CTO, also interfacing when required with wider stakeholders, including the Manufacturing Theme Head, the Associate Dean (Research), and other research leaders in the automation and robotics domain, both at WMG and across the HVM Catapult.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
Full details of the duties and selection criteria for this role can be found in the vacancy advert on the University of Warwick's jobs pages. You will be routed to this when you click on the Apply button.
