The University of Leeds offers a wide range of sports facilities from the Edge sports centre, Gryphons Sports centre and recently developed gryphons Performance Hub on Campus to the outdoor sports facilities located three miles north of the main University campus.
Sports Park Weetwood, Sports Park Bodington/ the Brownlee centre and Bodington Football Hub provide grass and artificial surfaces for sports including football, rugby, hockey, cycling, cricket, lacrosse and ultimate frisbee which are widely used by students and the local community.
Sports Park Weetwood partners include the Leeds/ Bradford MCCU cricket team and Yorkshire Cricket Club Academy, Junior and 2nd XI sides. It is also proud to be recognised as a Junior Regional Performance Centre for hockey.
The Brownlee centre was the UK’s first purpose-built triathlon training centre and is the permanent home for the world leading Leeds Triathlon Centre, of which the University of Leeds is a key partner. Bodington Playing Fields also includes a 1.6km closed loop cycle circuit, one of the longest in the country.
Bodington Football Hub is the most recent addition to the Outdoor sport facilities and includes three full sized, floodlit 3G Football Turf Pitches (FTPs), a four-team changing pavilion with community café and meeting space. The new site is home to six partner football clubs in addition to supporting a broad range of recreational programmes and activities for the wider community.
The facilities are supported by bar and catering outlets at all three sites. The diverse catering offer includes match day meals for sports teams, national league Hockey catering, cricket teas and corporate days/ events, in addition to the daily bar operations.
