About this role
UWE’s BA (Hons) Fashion Communication is a creative interdisciplinary course based at the Arnolfini contemporary art gallery on the vibrant Bristol Harbourside. The course has outstanding facilities across our city campus and works closely with industry to deliver a future focused and practice-based curriculum. Established in 2016, the course has grown to attract some of the UK’s strongest Fashion Communication students.
The course sits within the Design cluster in the School of Arts and explores how fashion can be communicated through a broad curriculum that includes creative direction, styling and image making, branding, marketing and communications. We are looking for an experienced fashion communication specialist with a strong level of current professional practice, including particular interest and expertise in the expanded field of Fashion Communication within a commercial environment. Candidates must also have practical and theoretical knowledge of the changing sustainability and ethical contexts of the sector.
While the primary purpose of the role is to deliver outstanding teaching, content and curriculum development on the BA (Hons) Fashion Communication course, the candidate will also be expected to contribute to interdisciplinary teaching and activities within the School of Arts, in addition to research and external engagement.
About you
You will be qualified to postgraduate level (or near to completion) in a relevant subject, or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience from industry, hold a higher education teaching qualification and HEA Fellowship, or a commitment to achieve these within two years of appointment.
You will have a track record of inspirational teaching in higher education, or be able to demonstrate equivalent industry experience, and will make a significant contribution to course teaching activity at undergraduate level. You should demonstrate subject knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: creative direction, fashion styling, fashion photography, fashion film, art direction, fashion branding and advertising, fashion marketing and content creation.

This post is based at our City Campus in Bristol city centre which comprises of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island and Watershed and is home to UWE Bristol's creative and cultural subjects.
