This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative nationally funded research project dealing with a major societal challenge. The Reducing Illicit Substance Use Project based at the University of Huddersfield are looking to recruit a Research Fellow on a full-time basis for a period of 12 months from September 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
This role will support the development of Phase 2 of a National Institute for Health and Care (NIHR) sponsored three-phase project which aims to reduce the use of recreational drugs such as cannabis, powdered cocaine, ecstasy and nitrous oxide in young people. In Phase 1 of the project, we developed three interventions: 1. Educational resources for 11-13 year olds, 2. a specialist one-to-one intervention for those already using illicit substances, and 3. a public health campaign for 11-14 year olds. In Phase 2, we aim to further develop and assess these interventions.
You will play a key role in supporting the assessment of the educational resources, as well as the other interventions, including collecting and analysing data using both qualitative and quantitative methods and disseminating the findings. The role will also require you to work closely with a range of stakeholders including young people, experts by experience, public sector professionals, policy makers, teachers, the public, and academics.
You will have a doctoral qualification in Psychology, Social Science, Health Science or a related field, along with relevant experience. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, coupled with excellent written and oral communication skills, organisational and problem-solving skills are essential to this role.
