The Net-Zero Exchange project will provide an innovative catalyst for accelerating Net-Zero action throughout the great-south-west region and beyond.  The project, supported by the Higher Education Innovation Fund and building on the successful Low Carbon Devon project, will bring together a network of businesses and academics to connect, collaborate, access resources, share knowledge, attend events and support each other on the race to Net-Zero. 

The project will develop an integrated programme of activities that delivers:

  1. a Net-Zero Exchange Network
  2. Net-Zero Exchange Events,
  3. Research Collaboration Projects
  4. Climate Literacy Short Course
  5. Future Climate Leaders CPD course and
  6. Net-Zero Consultancy development.

The Network Officer post for the Net-Zero Exchange project is an exciting opportunity to work in a progressive and cutting-edge University and really make a difference in the great-south-west region and beyond.   The post will involve working with innovative businesses, world-leading academics, enthusiastic students, dedicated community groups and passionate social enterprises.

Based at the University’s Sustainable Earth Institute and located in the University’s newly refurbished Sustainability Hub, some key duties include:

  • To work closely with the project’s team to plan and facilitate a comprehensive programme of Net-Zero events, including workshops and seminars aimed at business and other stakeholders to take place online (e.g. webinars), in the Sustainability Hub, and also at other geographical locations.
  • To develop and deliver the marketing and communications plan for all aspects of the Net-Zero Exchange project, for example through social media, print media, web, banners and videos, in order to maximise reach and engagement.
  • To develop social media content that stimulates and develops discussion and interest on Net-Zero from the Network members between the events.
  • To interface with customers, partners and stakeholders, providing information, guidance and referrals regarding the Net-Zero Exchange offer, as the first point of contact for Net-Zero Exchange Network and the Sustainability Hub.

You must have practical marketing and communication experience and a keen interest in supporting the race to Net-Zero. You must also have experience of event organisation (particularly on-line) and delivery to deadlines as well as the development of web and social media activities.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until 31st  August 2025 due to funding.

Remote working is available up to 2 days a week.
