Role Summary
The University of Birmingham is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join its Facility Services team as the Head of Sustainable Logistics.
The Facility Services department, which includes Soft Facilities, Worklink, and Sustainable Logistics (including Car Parking), is responsible for influencing the movement of people and goods regionally, nationally, and internationally. This influence extends beyond the campus, impacting local infrastructure and requiring engagement with local partners. The University's commitment to sustainable practices is central to its operational excellence, as demonstrated by its award-winning Fleet, Transport, and Sustainable Travel management within Facility Services. These departments offer a comprehensive mobility and logistics solution.
As Head of Sustainable Logistics, you will be a key leader within Facility Services, driving the University's mobility agenda to ensure sustainable, business-focused travel, car parking, and transport services that meet evolving institutional needs. You will champion the University's commitment to sustainable practices in fleet, logistics, and business travel, directly contributing to the institution's Sustainability Strategy and air quality improvement goals.
The role requires significant experience in transport or travel industry and of sector knowledge of logistic is essential, as is a comprehensive understanding of car parking management, its integration with capital projects, and the constraints within car parking legislation and local authority policy. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a good understanding of UK and Global Higher Education and its implications for future and current strategy within sustainable logistics. Excellent people management skills, including proven experience in leading, motivating, and managing teams, are crucial.
