Applications are invited for a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Brain Tumour Biology Laboratory led by Prof Petra Hamerlik at the University of Manchester. The Research Assistant will be expected to support group members in completing projects focused on Fundamental and Translational Research in Pediatric and Adult Brain Tumours (e.g., note-keeping, particularly for our human samples).
The successful applicant should have, or be in the process of attaining, a qualification at NQF level 6 (such as a bachelor's degree) in a relevant biological science subject, or GCSEs in English and Mathematics (or equivalent), along with two additional qualifications at NQF level 3 (at least one in a Science related subject) and/or substantial relevant experience working in a research laboratory. Extensive experience working with live cells (and/or assays such as cell viability assays) is desirable. A demonstrated ability to work with animals (specifically orthotopic xenograft models of brain cancer) and holding an active Home Office License (PIL A, B, and C) are essential requirements.
The post holder will be based at the Paterson Research Building in Manchester and will assist in the smooth running of the Brain Tumour Biology Laboratory.
