The University of Aberdeen is seeking a Technology Transfer Executive to join the team in Research & Innovation to drive the commercialisation of research and to support entrepreneurial staff and students to meet the University’s ambitious targets for enterprise and innovation.
We are looking for a self-starter who is a team player, who will thrive on developing new and rewarding relationships with academic researchers and with industry, and supporting enterprise and innovation. You will be able to work on your own initiative, and will have excellent organisational and administrative skills. You will be an excellent communicator, able to convey complex and detailed information effectively to a range of stakeholders. You will be able to build and nurture effective relationships with academic researchers, investors, industry and other stakeholders, building your own professional network.
The candidate will have a good first degree in a STEM subject and preferably a higher degree in a related discipline. In addition to some working knowledge of intellectual property management, an understanding of the academic research environment and of University funding mechanisms is required. Experience of managing projects and communicating with academia and industry is also required. Experience of working in a higher education institution, managing intellectual property and supporting company spin out is desirable.
For a Grade 7 appointment, several years’ experience of working in a technology transfer, knowledge exchange or research commercialisation role, knowledge of IP due diligence and the patenting process, and a track record in negotiating and securing commercial deals involving intellectual property (including spin outs) will be required.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 or Grade 7 scales, £37,099 - £54,395 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
