About the Department:
Responsible for the university’s procurement strategy, policy and procedures, the procurement team at SOAS plays an important part in University business.
We support departmental purchasing activity, providing professional advice and guidance to support best practice procurement across all categories of expenditure.
Whilst SOAS is not a Contracting Authority as defined by the Public Contracts regulations, we continue to ensure that we treat all suppliers fairly and equitably in a transparent and non-discriminatory way.
About the Role:
This exciting new Senior Procurement Manager position has been established to ensure that SOAS can continue working towards reducing risk and achieving value for money in all its purchasing activity.
This is a full-time role (35 hours per week), but we are also open to considering the role as a job share.
You will be working closely with the Head of Procurement and other stakeholders to manage the procurement of goods, services, and works. Your responsibilities will include providing expert procurement advice, running procurements, offering legal advice on risks, supporting contract management, promoting sustainability (in its broadest sense), and delivering training on procurement.
We are looking for someone with strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, motivation, and the ability to make decisions and solve problems (often quickly). You should have over 5 years of procurement experience across a broad range of categories and a keen interest in sustainable procurement.
This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same. Our team is in the midst of a transformation, exploring new and innovative ways of doing things. There are plenty of opportunities to contribute to the development of the function overall, as well as day-to-day procurement operations.
Further information on the key criteria can be found in the Job Description and Person Specification on the SOAS website.
How to Apply:
Please complete the online application form and upload your CV and a supporting statement. If you are interested in applying for this role as a job share, please also share the number of days you are interested in working.
