We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a highly motivated Stores and Goods-In Assistant to join our fantastic Facilities team within the Centre for Human Genetics, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
The Henry Wellcome Buildings for Genomic Medicine and Molecular Physiology (HWB) comprise approximately 6,500 sqm of laboratory and office space for the delivery of world-leading research into the genetics and structural biology of human diseases. It houses over 600 building users, across three units: Centre for Human Genetics (CHG), CAMS-Oxford Institute (COI), and Division of Structural Biology.
The research units host a wide range of specialist equipment and research facilities including a suite for cryoElectron Microscopy, a high-performance computing facility, and a Functional Genetics Facility (FGF). The FGF and cryoEM facilities include biological containment laboratories (containment level 3).
As a member of the Facilities Team, you will contribute to providing a suitable environment to enable research to be carried out effectively in the HWB. You will assist the Stores & Goods-In Manager in providing a consistent and professional service. You will be responsible for assisting with accurately checking receipts against purchase orders and delivery notes and will assist with the receipting of all goods received using Oracle Financials. You will liaise with the NDM Accounts Team to ensure that orders, delivery notes, and invoices are all matched correctly. You will also be tasked with assisting with informing research groups – daily – of all goods that they have ordered that are awaiting collection, and assist with the effective distribution of goods to research groups. This will include perishable items which will require appropriate storage until collection to avoid damage to goods received.
To be successful in this role, you will have GCSE standard or equivalent education with Maths, English, and Science at Grade C or equivalent, along with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, in particular when checking documents. You will be able to use your initiative to resolve day-to-day problems, whilst working under the supervision line management of the Stores and Glassware Manager. You will have an excellent ability to communicate with other people and a commitment to providing the highest levels of customer service and be able to prioritise, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
