Join VacV Biotherapeutics innovative research team.
Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer?
We are seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our innovative team under the supervision of Professor Yaohe Wang and Dr. Louisa Chard-Dunmall dedicated to developing viral-based therapies for cancer.
VacV Biotherapeutics (UK) Limited is a pioneering cancer immunotherapy company focused on revolutionising cancer treatment through the development of novel oncolytic virotherapy and immunotherapy solutions. Utilising our cutting-edge technology featuring an oncolytic Vaccinia virus, we strive to create safe and effective treatments that offer significant advantages over existing options. With a promising pipeline of easy-to-administer therapies, we are committed to advancing the forefront of cancer research and improving patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in our antibody discovery efforts, utilising phage display technology to identify, produce, purify, and characterise antibodies crucial for our innovative cancer immunotherapy programmes. Additionally, you will perform routine cell cultures and utilise molecular biology techniques such as cloning, PCR and qPCR and cell transfections to support our research team.
The appointee will develop an effective therapeutic regime using a novel viro-immunotherapeutic agent that was recently developed in our lab, together with combinations of other immunotherapies. Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a cancer-related subject and an undergraduate degree in a biological subject. Significant research laboratory experience in cancer biology, antibody discovery, immunology, viral vector production, and animal models is essential. Experience with some or all of the following would be an advantage: gene cloning, Western blotting, FACS, ELISA, CTL assay, IFN-γ ELISPOT assay and in vivo imaging. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.
The office is located in Barbican and labs based at the QMUL, Charterhouse Square Campus in London. It is a full time (35 hours per week), fixed term contract until July 2026 for the first instance, with the possibility to extend further with an immediate start date.
