Role Overview:

These two posts will play a crucial role in supporting the development of researchers across the University and in facilitating the development of an open, productive, inclusive and collaborative research culture, for researchers at all stages, from postgraduate researchers (PGR) through to experienced faculty. Joining our Research Environment and Policy Team offers the opportunity to engage in a range of projects and initiatives around research environment and culture and open research.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • As part of a collaborative team involving RSSD and other professional services teams, support the ongoing development and coordinate the implementation of the revised Research Leaders Programme (our training offering for mid-career researchers)
  • With colleagues in the Doctoral School, enable and maintain a cohesive PGR development culture across the institution, including mapping existing training provision and coordinating future delivery plans.
  • As part of a collaborative team including RSSD, Library and Learning Resources and IT Services, assist in the development and delivery of the University’s Open Research policy and Responsible Research Assessment Commitment, in particular supporting dissemination activities within the academic and PGR communities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of researcher development processes and practices, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Qualified to Degree level or equivalent plus significant relevant experience (see next bullet) demonstrated through increasingly more demanding roles evidencing the competencies necessary for this role.
  • Highly proficient IT skills, including MS Office. You should be confident and able to quickly learn new IT skills and software packages as required. 
  • Experience of working successfully in any one of the following areas: research support, researcher development and training, open research, research culture, research governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality customer service, with a focus on meeting the needs of researchers.
