The mission of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy is to transform the lives of people living with epilepsy for the better by identifying, understanding, and correcting or preventing the underlying mechanisms leading to the epilepsies and associated comorbidities in each individual person. Our vision is to build upon the excellence and breadth of our research, seamlessly integrating basic and clinical science.
We are seeking a Research Assistant to be responsible for running a clinical trial sampling breath and sweat following seizures to determine if it is possible to predict the type and nature of said seizures from the chemicals that are released.
An honorary contract will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.
The role is available from 01 October 2024 funded by the MRC and Epilepsy Research Institute for one year, or until 31 October 2025 (whichever is earliest), in the first instance.

You will have an Honours degree in a relevant subject or be a Registered Nurse, with experience of working in, and/or conducting research in a healthcare environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work co-operatively in a multidisciplinary setting, are essential, as are strong problem-solving abilities.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
The role is offered on a starting salary of £38,357 per annum, including London Allowance.
