About ARU:
ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).
ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.
About the Role:
You will join our School of Life Sciences, working with academics teaching and conducting world-class research in Biomedical Science, Forensic Science, Crime and Investigative Science, and Animal and Environmental Biology, based in our Faculty of Science and Engineering. We are a forward-looking and enthusiastic School with a vision that combines commitment to a strong and active research culture with excellence in learning and teaching.
You will have a degree or relevant professional qualification, extensive post qualification CPD and be a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Biomedical Scientist in any area of Biomedical Science provision. You will join our team of highly qualified staff that deliver a popular and growing course(s) in BSc and MSc Biomedical Science which are accredited with the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS). You will also take responsibility for the management and delivery of our student work placement provision. The appointment will be permanent but a fractional appointment (0.4-0.8 FTE), to allow you to maintain your external profile and professional currency. The appointment does not carry a responsibility for research but this will be encouraged should you wish to participate in research (subject to your workload and agreement with your line manager).
We are fully committed to Athena SWAN, equality and diversity principles. We are keen to promote women in science and are keen to accommodate staff with family or caring responsibilities. You will be required to work such hours as are reasonably necessary to perform your duties and may involve occasional evening or weekend work. Flexible working requests are welcomed. All staff are encouraged to work in an ‘agile’ manner adopting work patterns which best suit the needs of the individual and the institution.
For informal enquiries and further information, please contact Professor Christopher Parris, Head of School of Life Sciences (chris.parris@aru.ac.uk), or Dr Alvin Helden, Deputy Head of School (alvin.helden@aru.ac.uk), or Dr Christopher O’Kane, Deputy Head of School of Life Sciences (Christopher.O’kane@aru.ac.uk).
We have an agile working culture and offer an extensive range of benefits including generous holiday entitlement, occupational pension schemes, training and development opportunities, travel to work scheme and a competitive relocation package. Visit our benefits page for full details.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting welfare of our staff and students and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants should be aware that ARU will carry out online searches as part of the due diligence on short listed candidates.
