We are looking for a clinician with experience and enthusiasm in production animal health and welfare to provide maternity leave cover in our established vibrant group of clinical and academic staff at the Scottish Centre for Production Animal Health and Food Safety. You will be expected to integrate fully into a team delivering high quality teaching, post-graduate training and clinical service in all production animal species.
Our curriculum serves 700 undergraduate veterinary students, and is an outcomes-based programme, emphasising a focus on developing professional skills, attributes and competencies in our graduates. This post will contribute to the ethos of applied clinical teaching to undergraduates. The School has an international reputation in teaching, clinical services and research and is accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), the European Association of Establishments of Veterinary Education (EAEVE) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
The Scottish Centre for Production Animal Health & Food Safety is based within the School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Glasgow’s Garscube Campus. The Centre provides a clinical service for practitioners and producers throughout Scotland and Northern England. We offer a variety of services including donation of animals to the Centre for diagnosis and appropriate treatment with the results of diagnostic procedures communicated to the referring vet, and farm and public health consultancy work including both farm and processor visits and production record analyses.
We welcome applications from candidates who hold a Veterinary degree recognised by the RCVS and substantial experience of working in either production animal veterinary practice, or livestock farms, or veterinary or agricultural institute of further or higher education.
This post is full time and to cover maternity leave for up to 12 months or until the substantive postholder returns.
