About the School of Communication:

At the Royal College of Art’s School of Communication, we explore how communication shapes our world and how experimental practices can lead to innovative ways of shaping and influencing the future. Our School provides a platform for students and researchers to cultivate their careers as artists, designers, communicators, curators, and writers. We encourage deep exploration of individual practices while exposing students to diverse, critical perspectives and contemporary global issues, including societal, cultural, environmental, and economic challenges.

We work across a range of media, fostering bold experimentation with various outcomes such as VR experiences, graphic novels, animated films, and immersive sound installations. Our research culture is dynamic, and our practice-driven approach embraces a combination of communication theory and creative execution, with projects ranging from speculative enquiry to work on public policy and social justice.

About Visual Communication:

The Visual Communication programme at RCA is rooted in collaboration, compassion, and critical thinking. We see communication as a process that bridges ideas, people, and social discourse, encouraging students to engage with a diverse range of perspectives. Our goal is to spark transformative movements and challenge the status quo, embracing complexity and encouraging (un)learning across different disciplines.

With a strong history of cooperative and collective working methods, we nurture a community of thinkers and makers leading cultural, social, and political conversations. We believe in the power of communication to drive activism, change, and social innovation.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Tutor to join our Visual Communication team in a part-time (0.85 FTE) capacity. The successful candidate will lead a tutor group, delivering high-quality tutorials, lectures, seminars, and workshops. The role also involves contributing to student assessments and working collaboratively to plan and enhance the programme’s development.

The postholder will also be expected to engage in research, with a view to contributing to the School’s broader research culture. The ideal candidate will be passionate about creative and critical approaches to communication and will play an active role in shaping the academic and creative direction of the programme.
