About the Post

We are looking for someone to join our architecture team to play a central role in improving digital literacy skills in our students, not just relevant to architectural education, but also transferable skills helping to improve their employability opportunities. The successful post holder should be someone who can:

- Develop and deliver core digital skills in our BA Architecture programme.
- Develop and deliver specialist skills through teaching and workshops across all levels of the course.
- Provide one-to-one tutorials and personal academic coaching throughout the week to assist students in their digital skills development.
- Contribute to our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE): We utilise Brightspace to provide access to software, hardware, learning resources and makerspaces.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be qualified and trained in an architectural-related discipline, but we welcome conversations with those who can also demonstrate the skillset and experience for the role as set out in the job description and below.

About the Team

We are a close-knit team who draw on each other’s skills and expertise to deliver a lively and stimulating architecture course. Architecture at Suffolk has seen significant growth in the last 12 months and is ambitious to grow further.

As a team and a community, we offer an inclusive and friendly environment, and take pride in maintaining good relationships with students. As a course team, we are also blessed with an array of technicians and support staff, all sitting within the Arts Building which offers excellent facilities to both students and staff.

About You

You will have expert professional experience of working across multiple digital media applications. The ability to work across both analogue and digital techniques and processes will be essential.

You should have knowledge of the core architectural software packages, such as: Adobe CC; AutoCAD; AutoCAD Architecture; Vectorworks; ArchiCAD; Revit; and Rhino; alongside various rendering engines. An understanding of emerging AI software and its relevancy to contemporary and future practice would be an advantage.

You will be a self-learner, willing to experiment and learn new software, sharing knowledge and good practice with academic and technical colleagues.

Benefits

- Generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days for Bands 1-4 and 30 days for Bands 5 and above, plus 8 bank holidays and any university closure days.
- Agile and flexible working, including family friendly policies.
- We offer a competitive pension scheme through USS.
- Staff discounts at several local amenities.
- Discounted membership at various Ipswich Fit sites: unlimited access to gyms, swimming lanes, fitness classes and discounted racket sports.
- We offer up to a 100% fee waiver for staff approved to study a UoS undergraduate or postgraduate course, subject to a set of criteria and conditions.
- Cycle to Work scheme.
- Electric vehicle salary sacrifice.
- Wellbeing programmes.
