ABOUT SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS (SMP)

The School of Mathematics and Physics at XJTLU is one of the major schools in the University where we have about 2500 mathematics related majors. We have a Ph.D., Program where our graduates receive a PHD from the University of Liverpool. The school is aiming to become a world leading institution in industry and applied mathematics research. 

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching (ADLT) is a key member of the senior management team in the School of Mathematics and Physics, working alongside the Dean, Deputy Dean, Associate Dean for Research, and five department heads. Together, they oversee executive functions such as policy development, strategic planning, and, in collaboration with administrative staff, the management and coordination of school operations.

The Associate Dean, Learning & Teaching is responsible and accountable for providing high quality educational leadership within a School, and for the development, implementation and review of educational initiatives that are aligned with the School’s and University’s strategic priorities in learning and teaching and the student experience. The Associate Dean, Learning & Teaching manages school-based Learning and Teaching initiatives, ensuring the quality and continuous improvement of courses and the development of a school environment that promotes outstanding learning outcomes for students.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in both teaching and academic management within the UK higher education system, as well as a deep commitment to innovative and high-quality education.

QUALIFICATION

  • PhD. in Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in both teaching and academic management within the UK higher education system.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
