Job Description

Position Title: Academic Dean

Reports To: CEO

Purpose of the Role

To lead and manage all academic programmes and ensure the academic integrity and quality of the College. The Academic Dean plays a key role in the development, management, and review of academic policies and practices, and ensures compliance with the standards set by the Nepalese Government, partner universities, and awarding bodies. The Dean is also expected to contribute to academic strategy, student experience, research activities, and support marketing and enrolment initiatives.

Functions of the Post

The Academic Dean is responsible for leading all academic-related committees, coordinating closely with Programme Leaders and academic staff, and contributing to the promotion of the College’s academic activities to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership and strategic direction to all academic programmes.
  • Lead the regulation and quality assurance of the academic division in alignment with national and international academic standards.
  • Ensure the implementation of academic strategy and policies related to quality assurance, enhancement, curriculum development, and programme delivery.
  • Foster a culture of continuous academic improvement and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Monitor academic performance and ensure high student pass and retention rates.
  • Oversee and promote research activities, including student and staff involvement in conferences, journal publications, and academic collaborations.
  • Ensure that Programme Leaders report directly to the Academic Dean and are supported in delivering programme objectives.
  • Promote co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that enhance the student academic experience.
  • Support the planning and execution of student global exposure opportunities through academic collaborations and study visits.
  • Ensure that student welfare and academic progression are prioritised.
  • Actively support and participate in marketing, outreach, and student enrolment activities.
  • Engage with alumni to strengthen their connection with the College and encourage academic collaboration.
  • Organise and deliver academic staff development and training sessions.
  • Conduct regular academic review meetings and feedback sessions with students and faculty.
  • Represent the academic face of the College to students, faculty, and external academic bodies.
  • Promote a student-first environment where learners feel valued and supported.
