The Opportunity
The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) invites applications for the newly defined role of Director of Research, Knowledge Exchange & Innovation (RKEI). This is an exceptional opportunity to shape and lead UCA’s research and innovation agenda, working across our vibrant campuses in Surrey and Kent and our growing international network, including China.
As a member of the senior academic leadership team, the Director will Reporting to: Pro Vice-Chancellor (Creative Education) drive forward our vision to deliver sector-leading, practice-based research and innovation that aligns with our strategic priorities. The successful candidate will also be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor, subject to their qualifications, experience, and record of achievement.
About the Role
The Director of RKEI will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of research, knowledge exchange (KE), business and innovation across the University. You will lead a dynamic and evolving portfolio, including oversight of UCA’s Research Centres, the Galleries, Research Degrees, and support for staff and student research development.

This role will suit a senior research leader with a track record of securing external funding, for innovation and business, managing complex teams, and delivering impactful research and KE outcomes. Experience within the creative industries, arts-based research or interdisciplinary Design innovation will be highly valued.
