We invite applications for a Senior Research Associate - Stephen Hawking Advanced Fellowship position at the University of Cambridge. This position will be based at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics and the Kavli Institute for Cosmology, Cambridge.
Candidates should be qualified to undertake research in cosmology. Candidates interested in collaborating with Prof. Blake Sherwin on CMB lensing and kSZ research relevant to the Simons Observatory experiment will be of particular interest.
You will be developing and conducting individual and collaborative research objectives, proposals and projects and managing research budgets. You are responsible for the investigation and delivery of your own research programmes, and assessing, interpreting and evaluating the outcomes. You are expected to extend and apply knowledge, contribute to publications, present, and communicate complex ideas to those with limited knowledge. You need to be able to identify sources of funding, help secure funds and develop links with external contacts. You may be expected to contribute towards teaching programmes, supervise postgraduate research students, mentor colleagues and carry out appraisals.
You will be encouraged to collaborate broadly with Cambridge faculty members and researchers within the Kavli Institute for Cosmology, the Stephen Hawking Centre for Theoretical Cosmology and relevant groups in the Institute of Astronomy and the Cavendish Laboratory.
You will have completed (or be about to complete) a PhD in Physics, Cosmology, Astrophysics, Astronomy or a closely related area, and will have demonstrated a capacity to produce world-class research.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance, subject to funding.
