The University of Southampton is committed to excellence in all we do, applying our insights and inventiveness to solve the most complex societal and environmental challenges. As a world-leading, research-intensive university, with a strong and high-quality educational offering, we are renowned for our innovation and enterprise and are within the top 1% of universities worldwide.
Careers, Employability and Student Enterprise is an essential part of the University, responsible for supporting our students and graduates to plan their future career paths and develop essential enterprising skills.
As a faculty facing Careers Consultant, you will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders in the design and delivery of leading-edge careers education, information, advice and guidance. Key to this, will be building successful relationships both inside and outside the university to create an outstanding service and experience for our students and graduates so that they achieve the best outcomes, whether that’s a graduate career, future study or a business/social enterprise.
You will possess a recognised professional qualification in careers guidance, or relevant experience of providing advice and guidance within a Higher Education context. If you are currently completing a careers qualification we can support you to complete this, however all successful candidates must be in a position to deliver careers guidance from September 2025, this will be following a period of observation and review. In addition, you will have in depth knowledge of careers and employability and the current challenges facing students in HE and developments within the graduate labour market.
We are committed to supporting our staff and students and we are open to a flexible and hybrid working approach. We give full consideration to applicants that wish to work flexibly and those who have taken a career break.
As well as additional benefits that will make your life easier, such as a generous holiday allowance and additional university closure days, we will support your long-term future too, with access to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), subsidised health and fitness facilities and a range of discounts. All our benefits can be viewed here:

We welcome applicants that value the diversity of our community and are willing to play their part in supporting the mission of inclusivity.
