We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, proactive Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise Fellow to work with our small, friendly team in the Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry Facility (Chromatography and mass spectrometry facility | University of Southampton) in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, at the University of Southampton. The facility is led by Prof. Geraint Morgan and Dr Julie Herniman, and specialises in the development and application of novel analytical assays to solve complex analytical challenges for both commercial and academic collaborators.
This is a fixed term (24 months), full-time appointment (1.0 FTE/35 hours per week), with an indicative start date of 1st July 2025. The post is in the Education, Research and Enterprise (ERE) job family at Level 4 and will be based on the Highfield Campus.

The ideal candidate should have prior experience and expertise in working with and maintaining gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and associated sample collection techniques for collection and analysis of volatile organic compounds (such as thermal desorption).
This role involves running the day-to-day activities of the Chromatography and Mass spectrometry facility, with a specific emphasis on the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry instrumentation, as well handling Health and Safety tasks and customer engagement. Potential candidates should also demonstrate an ability to write project reports and research papers independently, present their work externally and be able to work successfully with multidisciplinary teams.
